Just a month back, it was revealed by Rishi Kapoor that they are thinking over selling their Chembur property, “RK Films and Studios”. This property was built by the Bollywood actor Raj Kapoor nearly 70 years back.
Today, a video is making rounds on social media in which Kapoor family can be seen performing aarti at the iconic studio on the occasion of ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’. In the video, we can see Randhir Kapoor performing the rituals in the studio for the last time. He cannot control his emotions as he performs in the studio for the last time.
Raj Kapoor, who is also popular as the greatest showman of Hindi Cinema, founded ‘RK Studios’ in 1948 along with RK Films in Chembur, Mumbai. Since then many cinema artists have performed in the studios and many films have been shot over there in these past years.

The Kapoor family is looking forward to sell it since fire broke out in the property and it is confirmed by Rishi Kapoor a few days back that they have made their final decision of selling this 2 acre plot. This property is expected to fetch more than 500 crores amount which will be distributed amongst the large clan of Kapoor family.
The first film shot in this studio was ‘Aag’ but it did not work at the box office. However, the studio gained recognition over time with films such as ‘Barsaat’, ‘Bobby’, ‘Awaara’ and ‘Jagte Raho’.
