Vishal's Allegations Prompt Government Action Against Corruption in Film Certification

In a startling revelation, actor Vishal recently accused the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) of corruption, alleging that he was forced to pay a hefty sum of Rs 6.5 lakh for the certification of the Hindi version of his Tamil film "Mark Antony."

This accusation triggered an immediate response from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (MIB), which ordered an inquiry into the matter. Vishal, in a series of tweets, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and the MIB for their swift actions. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges in the Indian film certification process and the government's commitment to combating corruption.

Vishal's Accusations

In a tweet that sent shockwaves through the Indian film industry, Vishal publicly accused CBFC officials of corruption. He detailed that he had to make two payments, totaling Rs 6.5 lakh, for his film's certification – Rs 3 lakhs for screening and Rs 3.5 lakhs for the certificate. Expressing his disbelief and frustration, he emphasized that corruption had no place in government offices and appealed to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to investigate the matter.

Government's Swift Response

In response to Vishal's allegations, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (MIB) wasted no time in taking action. Vishal thanked the MIB for their immediate steps, calling it an example for government officials to follow the path of honesty and service to the nation. The actor expressed his satisfaction that justice would prevail for the victims of corruption.

The MIB assured the public of its commitment to eradicating corruption, stating that senior officials had been assigned to investigate this "unfortunate" issue. The ministry reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for corruption and promised the strictest action against any individuals found guilty.

CBFC's Reaction

The Central Board of Film Certification also responded to the allegations, assuring the public that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty of corruption within the organization. They emphasized their commitment to digitization and automation of the certification process to reduce third-party involvement.

However, the CBFC expressed concern that despite these efforts, some film producers still chose to apply through intermediaries or agents. They warned producers against dealing with such intermediaries and urged them to report any attempts by third parties to demand money on behalf of the CBFC
