Punjabi Singer Shubh's Emotional Response to Ongoing Controversy: 'Extremely Disheartened'
Punjabi-Canadian rapper Shubhneet Singh, widely known as Shubh, has recently found himself amidst a significant controversy due to a controversial social media post. This controversy has arisen during a period marked by diplomatic tensions between India and Canada. Moreover, Shubh's 'Still Rollin India tour' has been abruptly canceled amidst allegations of his support for the Khalistan cause.
The Social Media Post
Shubh expressed his dismay and sorrow through an Instagram post, stating, "As a young rapper-singer hailing from Punjab, India, it was my life's dream to put my music on an international dais. But the recent happenings have tumbled my hard work and progress, and I wanted to say a few words to express my dismay and sorrow. I'm extremely disheartened by the cancellation of my tour in India."
In the post, he continued, "I was highly amped up and enthusiastic to perform in my country, in front of my people. The preparations were in full swing, and I was practicing with my heart and soul for the last two months. And I was very excited, happy, and ready to perform. But I guess destiny had some other plans."
Shubh's Deep Connection to India
Shubhneet Singh emphasized his deep connection to India, referring to it as his country. He highlighted the sacrifices made by his ancestors and Gurus for the nation's freedom. He expressed, "India is MY country too. I was born here. It is the land of my GURUS and my ANCESTORS, who didn't even blink an eye to make sacrifices for the freedom of this land, for its glory, and for the family. And Punjab is my soul, Punjab is in my blood. Whatever I am today, I am because of being a Punjabi."
Explanation and Apology
In response to the controversy stemming from his earlier Instagram post featuring a distorted map of India with the caption "Pray for Punjab," Shubhneet clarified that his initial intention was to offer prayers for Punjab in response to reports of electricity shutdowns in the state. He asserted that he had no intention of causing offense or hurting anyone's sentiments.
Tour Cancellation
Unfortunately, the controversy led to the cancellation of Shubhneet's 'Still Rollin Tour for India.' BookMyShow made the official announcement regarding the tour's cancellation. This development left Shubh and his fans disappointed, as they had been eagerly anticipating his performances.
Notable Unfollowing
It is worth noting that Indian cricket star Virat Kohli unfollowed Shubhneet on Instagram in response to the backlash generated by the controversial social media post. This action by Kohli highlighted the extent of the controversy and its impact on Shubh's public image.
