Kambli first garnered attention for his prolific run-scoring in domestic cricket, where he accumulated 9,965 runs at an average of 59.67 over 129 first-class matches. His international career began with an ODI debut against Pakistan in Sharjah in 1991, followed by a Test debut against England in 1993. Over the course of his career, Kambli amassed 2,477 runs in 104 ODIs and 1,084 runs in 17 Test matches, making a significant mark on the sport.
