Republic Day 2024: India is celebrating its 75th Republic Day, and the entire nation is gearing up for the joyous celebration of India's democratic spirit. The heart of these festivities lies in Delhi, where Rajpath becomes the canvas for spectacular parades featuring the Indian armed forces, police, and paramilitary groups.
Date and Route
The grand Republic Day 2024 parade is scheduled to kick off at 10:30 am on January 26, following the route from Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path. Rajpath, the venue, can accommodate 77,000 spectators, with 42,000 seats reserved for the general public. This year, the Chief Guest is the esteemed French President, Emmanuel Macron.
French Presence
In a historic move, a 95-member marching contingent and a 33-member band contingent from France will grace the parade. Squadron Leader Sumita Yadav, an air traffic controller in the Indian Air Force, will also participate, having previously caught attention during the Bastille Day parade in Paris.
Themes of the Year
The themes for Republic Day 2024 resonate with "Viksit Bharat" and "Bharat - Loktantra ki Matruka," highlighting India's vital qualities as a thriving democracy.
All-Women Tri-Services Group
Major General Sumit Mehta announced the inclusion of an all-women tri-services group in the Republic Day Parade for the first time. This historic contingent comprises women troops from the Army's military police and personnel from the other two services. Two living Param Vir Chakra awardees, Hony Captain Yogendra Yadav and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar, will also participate.
AI Takes Center Stage
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's tableau in the parade will emphasize the role of artificial intelligence (AI) across sectors. The tableau will depict AI in action, showcasing scenes like a teacher using a VR headset to educate children and the application of AI in logistics and cattle management.
ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 Showcase
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will showcase the achievements of the Chandrayaan-3 mission in its tableau. The display will prominently feature the launch and successful landing of Chandrayaan-3, with a special focus on its touchdown at the moon's South Pole.
Special Guests Invited
Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane revealed that approximately 13,000 special guests, including top performers in various fields and beneficiaries of government schemes, have been invited to witness the parade. Emphasizing the government's vision of Jan Bhagidari, he quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that these guests are the pride of the country.
