Farooq and Nafis Chishty, members of the influential Khadim family overseeing the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, were involved in a series of crimes. They lured young women to a secluded farmhouse, where they were gang-raped and blackmailed. Farooq had befriended a girl from a local school and used her to introduce him to her classmates, who became unsuspecting victims of the Chishty brothers and their accomplices.

Legal Proceedings and Aftermath

In September 1992, eighteen serial offenders were charged and brought to court. The first eight were reportedly sentenced to life in prison; however, four of them were acquitted by the Rajasthan High Court in 2001. In 2007, a fast-track court in Ajmer convicted Farooq Chishti, but in 2013, he was released by the High Court on the grounds of time served.
