This is a good film, which is why I’m here," Varun stated. He further explained that just as his father had refrained from launching him into Bollywood—adhering to a family tradition that eschews nepotistic endorsements he too had refrained from leveraging his position to assist Anjini.
Varun elaborated on his father's stance, saying, "There is no such tradition in our family, and he doesn’t believe in it. It would be wrong for me to take credit for any of her success." In an interview Varun reflected on how David Dhawan neither directly facilitated his entry into the film world nor deterred him from pursuing acting. Instead, David Dhawan supported Varun's aspirations, allowing him the freedom to chart his own course. "He encouraged me to become whatever I wanted to be. He asked me how I planned to become an actor. As a father, he supported me at every step and ensured I had everything I needed," Varun disclosed.
