Kalki 2898 AD Box Office Collection Day 2: Prabhas's latest film, "Kalki 2898 AD," directed by Nag Ashwin, continues to dominate the global box office. The film opened to a staggering ₹191.5 crore globally on its first day. On Day 2, it maintained its momentum, earning a remarkable ₹298 crore worldwide. This sci-fi epic, featuring a star-studded cast including Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Saswata Chatterjee, and Kamal Haasan, has captivated audiences with its unique blend of futuristic storytelling and Indian mythology.
On its opening day, "Kalki 2898 AD" garnered ₹95.30 crore in India alone and ₹191.5 crore globally. According to a report from Sacnilk, the film earned ₹54 crore on Day 2, bringing the second-day collection to ₹149.30 crore net. The official Instagram handle of the film confirmed that the worldwide gross for the second day reached ₹298.50 crore.
The Telugu version of the film saw an impressive occupancy rate of 65.02% in India on Friday, June 28. The film is projected to achieve a four-day weekend total of around ₹500 crore. The marketing team of "Kalki 2898 AD" shared a poster on X (formerly Twitter), celebrating the milestone of surpassing ₹298.5 crore gross worldwide in just two days.
"Kalki 2898 AD" follows the story of Bhairava, a bounty hunter played by Prabhas, who aims to accumulate enough units to live in the Complex. He is accompanied by an AI droid named BU-JZ-1, portrayed by Keerthy Suresh. The film intertwines sci-fi elements with Indian mythology, specifically the Mahabharata, set 6000 years in the future. Amitabh Bachchan's character, Ashwatthama, seeks redemption by aiding Kalki, the final avatar of Vishnu, played by Prabhas. Deepika Padukone plays SUM-80, and Kamal Haasan portrays Supreme Yaskin.
Director Nag Ashwin explained in a press conference that the film's title, "Kalki 2898 AD," reflects its fusion of futuristic and mythological themes. The film has already surpassed the opening day collections of "KGF 2," making it the third biggest opener after "RRR" and "Baahubali 2." Comparatively, after two days, "Baahubali 2" had earned ₹382 crore worldwide, and "RRR" had amassed ₹350 crore, while "KGF Chapter 2" had collected ₹286 crore. "Kalki 2898 AD" has now broken the record set by "KGF 2."
In addition to the lead roles, "Kalki 2898 AD" features Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. The film also includes cameo appearances by notable personalities such as SS Rajamouli, Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, and Vijay Deverakonda.
With its impressive box office performance and positive audience reception, "Kalki 2898 AD" is set to continue its successful run in theaters globally.
