If Irrfan Khan Was Alive, Would He Have Worked with Diljit Dosanjh? Suggests Sutapa Sikdar
Diljit Dosanjh's performance as the late Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila in the Netflix biopic has been gaining applause from all around. Recently, Sutapa Sikdar, the wife of the late actor Irrfan Khan, also expressed her admiration for Diljit's work and imagined a conversation she might have had with her husband about the actor.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Sutapa painted a picture of a conversation with Irrfan, if he were still alive today. In her imagined dialogue, she envisioned Irrfan reaching out to Dinesh Vijan, the producer of 'Hindi Medium' and 'Angrezi Medium', proposing a collaboration with Diljit Dosanjh, inspired by her praises for Diljit's portrayal in Imtiaz Ali's musical biopic 'Amar Singh Chamkila'. She also imagined Irrfan enjoying the film's music composed by AR Rahman and being moved by Irshad Kamil's lyrics in the song 'Vida Karo'. Additionally, she pictured suggesting to Irrfan that he should revisit his role as a Sardar from Anup Singh's 'Qissa' (2014) to work alongside Diljit on a project.
Sutapa's hypothetical conversation didn't stop there; she imagined Irrfan jokingly threatening to do a Malayalam film if Bollywood didn't change its ways. She envisioned him seeking out a director who had worked with Fahadh Faasil, a prominent Malayalam actor, for this purpose.
Reflecting on her years without Irrfan, Sutapa expressed a mix of emotions, including guilt, sadness, and helplessness, but also cherished the 36 years she spent knowing him. She pondered on what conversations they might have shared in 2024 if he were still with her.
In response to Sutapa's post, Diljit expressed his gratitude with a comment, and Imtiaz Ali shared her post on his Instagram Stories, showing support. Social media users also joined in, with many agreeing that Irrfan Khan and Diljit Dosanjh would have been a remarkable duo on screen.
Meanwhile, on April 29, marking the fourth anniversary of Irrfan Khan's passing, his son Babil Khan made a touching gesture by donating Rs 50,000 to YouTuber Prem Kumar, aimed at helping a village in Maharashtra tackle its water crisis. Alongside this act of generosity, Babil penned an emotional tribute to his late father, honouring his memory.
