Sonu Nigam On Twitter Misunderstanding

On June 4, as the Lok Sabha election results were announced, this impersonator posted political comments that several news channels wrongly attributed to the real Sonu Nigam. The singer expressed his disbelief, stating, “I wonder how people, including the news channels that mistook him for me, didn’t do their basic sanity check by reading the description of the account. His handle says Sonu Nigam Singh and the description says that he’s a criminal lawyer from Bihar.”

Sonu Nigam on Alarming Things on Social Media

Sonu Nigam, who has been busy with various film and independent projects, as well as concerts around the globe, is alarmed by this incident. “This is exactly the kind of nastiness that forced me to quit Twitter seven years ago. I don’t believe in making any sensational political remarks and I only focus on my work. But yeh incident alarming hai, not just for me, but also my family’s safety,” he explained.

The singer further revealed that the impersonation has been ongoing for a while, with his well-wishers frequently sending him screenshots of the fake tweets. “My team reached out to him and insisted he fixed his handle name and stopped pretending to be me, as millions of people are being misled by the use of my surname. I’m sure we will find a way to fix this,” he added.

This situation highlights the importance of verifying information before spreading it, especially on social media platforms.
