Amitabh Bachchan's Emotional Tribute to Team India's Historic T20 World Cup Win After 17 Years

On June 29, the T20 World Cup's final showdown unfolded at the illustrious Kensington Oval Stadium in Barbados. This highly anticipated match featured a gripping encounter between India and South Africa. In a nail-biting finish, India emerged victorious, securing a win by 7 runs and lifting the T20 World Cup trophy after a long wait of 17 years. The entire nation erupted in celebration, with jubilant Bollywood celebrities leading the chorus of congratulations.

Amitabh Bachchan, the venerable figure of Indian cinema, joined the multitude of voices lauding the Indian cricket team's triumph. Deeply moved by the victory, he admitted to shedding tears of joy. Interestingly, Bachchan confessed that he refrained from watching the match, attributing his abstention to a personal superstition he detailed in his posts on Tumblr and Twitter.

"I didn't watch TV; when I do, we lose..."

In a heartfelt post on his Tumblr account, Amitabh Bachchan wrote: "World Champion India! T20 World Cup 2024... Excitement, emotions, and anticipation... everything has come to an end. I didn't watch TV because when I do, we lose! Nothing else comes to mind. Just shedding tears along with the team's tears!" His emotional response to India's victory was evident as he poignantly remarked on his belief that his viewership might bring misfortune to the team.

Bachchan's emotional outpouring continued on Twitter, where he shared his elation with his followers: "T 5057 - Tears flowing in unison with those that TEAM INDIA sheds. WORLD CHAMPIONS INDIA ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ Bharat Mata Ki Jai. Jai Hind. Jai Hind. Jai Hind."

This is not the first instance of such a belief coming to light. In a 2011 interview, his son Abhishek Bachchan revealed that his father habitually avoids watching cricket matches when India plays, convinced that his viewing could jinx the team's performance.

The victory resonated across the Indian film industry, with numerous celebrities expressing their delight. Renowned stars like Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Kiara Advani, Vicky Kaushal, and Tamannaah Bhatia, among others, took to social media platforms to extend their heartfelt congratulations to Team India on their monumental win.
