This Is How Sufi Maestroes Wadali Brothers Got Separated
'Only death can do us apart', seems apt for Wadali Brothers. The super talented trio of Junior Wadali Lakhwinder Singh along with his father Puran Chand Wadali and uncle Pyare Lal Wadali is incomplete at present. It has been two years since Pyare Lal Wadali left this world due to cardiac arrest. Since then, Lakhwinder and Puran Chand have been performing alone. As it is said 'show must go on', both of them have never stopped the shows but their performances are never complete without him. Pyare Lal Wadali died in March, 2018. This is the only reason which has split and separated Wadali Brothers' trio else three of them were tied with each other through musical cords for ever.
It is amazing to know how brothers Puran Chand Wadali and Pyare Lal Wadali followed different professions before emerging as super stars of the musical world. Puran Chand was a wrestler in akhara whereas Pyare Lal performed the role of Krishan in Raas Leela. Lakhwinder was however trained by his father and uncle since childhood and he was always into music.
With the new trends in the musical industry, Lakhwinder has contributed in bringing out the talent of his father and uncle in the form of live shows globally. Otherwise, senior Wadalis used to perform only in the limited arena. It was after Lakhwinder's efforts, they released their albums. They have performed almost in every corner of the world and their coke studio versions are fantastic. From 'Charkha' and 'Akhiya Udeek Diyan' to their contributions in films like 'Pinjar' and 'Dhoop' in 2003, they have managed to win hearts of Bollywood as well. Puran Chand Wadali was honoured with Padma Shri in 2005.
PTC could not step back from appreciating the exceptional talent which Wadali Brothers have. Their soulful music which comes directly from God has given Punjab and Punjabi musical industry a great recognition. Hence, PTC awarded them with 'Life Time Achievement Award' during PTC Awards in 2015 in Jalandhar. Today, the trio might be incomplete but Pyare Lal Wadali still lives today in the music sung by Puran Chand and Lakhwinder Wadali.
