Playback singer Nirmala Mishra dies at the age of 81
Nirmala Mishra Death News: Noted Indian playback singer Nirmala Mishra, who is popularly known for her Odia songs, died at the age of 81 in Kolkata in the wee hours of Sunday.
Nirmala Mishra was conferred with 'Sangeet Sudhakar Balakrushna Das' award for her lifetime contribution to Odia music in 2011.

Notably, she was going through some age-related ailments and suffered a heart attack.
She was born into a family of musicians in West Bengal. Nirmala Mishra made her debut in the Odia film industry as a singer in ‘Shri Lokanath’. The music for the song was directed by legendary musician 'Balakrushna Das' in the 1960s.

In her wonderful career, she lent her melodious voice to several unforgettable songs like ‘Nida Bhara Rati’ from the movie ‘Anutap’, ‘Aji Aakashe Ki Ranga Laagila’ from ‘Shri Lokanath’, ‘Jochhana Luchana’ from ‘Adina Megha’, ‘Jaa Jaarey Bhaasi Jaa’ from ‘Chilika Teerey’, ‘Mo Mana Binara Tare’ of ‘Manika Jodi’ and many more.

In a career spanning two decades between the 1960s and 80s, Nirmala sang in all major films and worked with several music directors including Das.
Soon after the news of Nirmala Mishra's death surfaced on social media, the singer's fans started extending condolences to the departed soul.
