Javed Akhtar Files Case Of Defamation Against Kangana Ranaut

Bollywood’s veteran singer and lyricist Javed Akhtar has filed a case of defamation against the ‘Queen’ actress Kangana Ranaut.

The complaint, filed before the Metropolitan Magistrate at Andheri, Mumbai, claims that Kangana made defamatory comments against him in a video interview to a TV channel.

The complaint also claims that Kangana has unnecessarily dragged Javed Akhtar’s name in the connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

Javed Akhtar said that the video interview given by Kangana to the channel has views in lakhs on social media platforms and has been covered by other channels as well. He sought cognisance for the offense of defamation committed by Kangana and punishable under the Indian Penal Code.

In response to Javed, Kangana Ranaut took to her Twitter handle to react to Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's tweet highlighting that a defamation case was filed against the actor by lyricist Javed Akhtar.

She wrote: “Ek thi Sherni... Aur ek bhediyo ka jhund”

Meanwhile, Kangana and her sister Rangoli were issued a second notice by the Mumbai Police to record their statements in connection with a case of allegedly promoting enmity between communities through their remarks.
