Indian photographer's pic of Kashmir kebab seller wins international food photo contest

Indian photographer Debdatta Chakraborty won the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2022 for a picture titled 'Kebabiyana'. The picture was taken in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar in which a kebab seller was captured on a busy street at night.

The official Twitter handle of the Food Photo Award tweeted: "Overall Winner! And finally, huge congratulations to Debdatta Chakraborty, Overall Winner of the 2022 @FoodPhotoAward Competition with Kebabiyana. An amazing winning image! #FoodPhotoAwards22"

"This image, gentle but powerful, nourishes our soul," said Caroline Kenyon, the founder of the award, adding that "In today's world, more than ever, we feel the need for comfort, for love."

She also said that there was so much to reassure here in this picture, be it the beautifully captured embrace of the smoke, the golden light, or the subject's expression as he prepares the food.

Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2022 received entries from thousands of participants from more than 60 countries across the world. The winners were announced online through a live-streamed event.
