Oscars 2023: Kartiki Gonsalves, Guneet Monga's 'The Elephant Whisperer' bags award for Best Documentary Short Film
Oscars 2023 news: It was a proud moment for India having won the first Oscar for ‘The Elephant Whisperer’ by Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga in the Best Documentary Short Film category at the 95th Academy Awards.

The director went on to thank the academy, the producer Guneet Monga, the family and lastly thanked their nation India for their constant support. Further, talking about the acceptance speech where she said “I stand here today to speak about the special bond between them and the natural world, for the respect of Indigenous communities, and empathy towards other living beings we share space with and finally for coexistence and ended the speech.”
In addition to this, Kartiki also thanked the Academy for the prestigious recognition of the film which highlighted the local people and animals.

Filmmaker Kartiki then thanked Netflix for believing in them and then thanked Boman and Belli who were members of the ancient Kattunayakan tribe for sharing the tribal perception with producer Guneet. Furthermore, she thanked her mentor and her entire cast and crew who supported her so much, her parents and her sister who are the entire world to her.
For the unversed, the short film ‘The Elephant Whisperer focuses on a loving relationship with amazing views of Tamil Nadu which could easily grab anyone’s attention.
