Golden Globe Awards 2024; Greta Gerwig's Barbie leads the race with 9 nominations, Oppenheimer follows the fantasy comedy

Golden Globes is one of the most prestigious and starry award that delves in bestowing the excellence in both American and international film and television industry. It is an annual award ceremony that was first began in 1944. For the running year, 2023, the nominations of the Golden Globe were announced on Monday enlisting some of the most prolific films of the year.

On the top, Greta Gerwig's fantasy comedy 'Barbie' could be seen leading the race with a whopping number of nine nominations, for it's comedy, musical and acting prowesess(Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling), including for three of it's songs. Interestingly, it's theatrical competitor 'Oppenheimer' was seen giving a tough space at the starry nominations. The Christopher Nolan thriller drama nods 8 nominations, that includes best Picture drama, with it's promising actor Cilian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt.

Meanwhile the upcoming edition of the Golden Globe Award will be bifurcated into two new categories i.e. Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Stand-Up comedian on Television. The nominations earned by Barbie includes - Best Picture Musical or Comedy, Best Actress Musical or Comedy, Best supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Original Song Motion Picture, Best Screenplay Motion Picture, Director of a Motion Picture, Cinematic and Box Office achievement, Musical or Comedy Motion Picture.

'Barbie' revolves around the stereotypical Barbie and Ken played by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Directed by Greta Gerwig, the lady who made it to the Oscar nomination with her movies such as 'Lady Bird' and 'Little Women', the movie was co-written by Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach. Starring an immaculate casts, the movie won't serve you the children's Barbie, in short, expect more lime from the pink masterpiece if you're planning to watch the movie in the further days. Apart from Margot and Ryan, the movie also stars Issa Rae, America Ferrera, Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, Helen Mirren, John Cena and Will Ferrell are in some significant roles.
