Former Miss World contestant Sherika De Armas dies at 26; details inside
Sherika De Armas, who represented Uruguay in the 2015 Miss World contest, passed away at the age of 26 last week due to cervical cancer. She had been battling this disease for two years, undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy as part of her treatment.
Sherika's untimely death has left a profound impact not only in Uruguay but also around the world. Her brother, Mayk' De Armas, paid tribute to her on social media, saying, "Fly high, little sister. Always and forever." Carla Romero, who was crowned Miss Universe Uruguay in 2022, expressed her grief, calling Sherika "too evolved for this world" and one of the most beautiful women she had ever met.

Lola de los Santos, who held the title of Miss Uruguay in 2021, fondly remembered Sherika, saying, "I will always remember you, not only for all the support you gave me and how much you wanted to see me grow, but for your affection, your joy, the friends we shared, and that remain with me today."
Although Sherika did not make it to the top 30 contestants at the 2015 Miss World contest held in China, it's worth noting that she was one of only six 18-year-olds to compete in the pageant, which is a significant achievement in itself.
