Gorkha movie real story, cast and release date: Akshay Kumar starrer 'Gorkha' film was announced in October 2021 and ever since then everyone is eager to know who was Major General Ion Kardozo and what was his real story on which the film is being created.
Akshay Kumar starrer 'Gorkha' is based on the real life story of Major General Ion Kardozo who was the first disabled Major General in Army and opened doors for other disabled officers to become army commanders.
Major General Ion Anthony Joseph Cardozo, an officer of Gorkha Rifles himself amputated his legs after he stepped on a land mine in the battlefield.

If you are looking for Gorkha movie real story then you are at right place. During the 1971 war between India and Pakistan, Ian Cardozo was not initially involved in the war. However, after one of the commanders from his combat was killed Major General Ian Kardozo was sent to the war as a replacement. During the battle for the capture of Sylhet towards the end, Ian Kardozo stepped on a land mine.
After that, he was taken to the camp, he amputated his own injured leg with his Khukri and asked his batman to bury the limb.
He was further asked to serve the nation as a staff officer because that time there was a rule in the army that person who lose his limb during battle or otherwise was not allowed to command troops.
However, Major General Cardozo conquered his impairment to become the first person with a disability to command a brigade and an infantry battalion. He underwent the Battle Physical Efficiency Test to prove his ability and leaving 7 officers behind Major Cardozo climbed 4,800 feet.
Akshay Kumar is all set to portray the life journey of Major General Ian Kardozo in the upcoming biopic 'Gorkha' written by Neeraj Yadav and Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan which is being helmed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. The project is being produced under the banner of Cape of Good Films.
