Sargun Mehta is one of the biggest actresses in the Punjabi film industry, and she is not only an actor; she has been producing successful TV shows for the last 3–4 years. But this was not how the actress started it. Here's a look into the journey of Sargun Mehta as a B Com Degree Holder to one of the biggest actors. 

Sargun Mehta-Early Life and Childhood

Sargun Mehta was born on March 6, 1988, in Chandigarh to a businessman Harish Mehta and Aradhana Mehta. She has a younger brother, Pulkit Mehta, who is also in business. 

Sargun completed her schooling at Sacred Heart Convent School and Caramel Convent School, both of which are in Chandigarh. The actress then moved to Delhi after completing her schooling to pursue a B.Com. honours degree from Kirori Man College, Delhi University. Sargon then opted for a master's degree in business management but dropped out to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

Sargun Mehta's Career

Since childhood, Sargun has loved dancing and even auditioned for the popular dance reality show Boogie Woogie with her brother, but both of them were rejected. Sargon was active in theatre during her college days and landed a role on the show 12/24 Karol Bagh in 2009. She played the role of Neetu opposite Ravi Dubey; the show aired on ZeeTV. After this show ended, she bagged Anirthe's show on the same channel, ‘Apno Ke Liye Geeta ka Dharamyudh’, which started in December 2010 but couldn’t gain much popularity and ended in May 2011.

In 2011 itself, she got the opportunity to play the role of the titular character in Colors TV’s ‘Phulwa’, which the actors consider a turning point in her life. 

She then went on to do episodic roles in shows like ‘Crime Patrol’ on Sony Entertainment Television and ‘Teri Meri Love Stories’ on Star Plus.

She played a pivotal role in the crime thriller ‘Hum ne li hai... Shapath’ opposite Rahil Azam. In December 2012, she started shooting for Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kya Hua Tera Vaada’ after the show underwent a 10-year leap. Sargun feels that “my character has different shades. I haven't done this kind of role before.” The show concluded in May 2013. She then participated in the couple dance reality show ‘Nach Baliye 5’ with her now husband Ravi Dubey, in which they finished in 2nd place. She then also participated in the extension of the dance reality show by the name ‘Nach Baliye Shriman vs. Shrimati’ in which the couple performed against each other. 

Sargun then got the role of Ganga in the popular show ‘Balika Vadhu’ in 2013, but the actor quit the show in 2014 due to creative dissatisfaction. She also appeared on Big Boss season 8 as a contestant but was eliminated on the first day itself. The actress then hosted the dance reality show for which she auditioned as a child, ‘Boogie Woogie Kids Championship’.

She returned to the fictional Showa with ZeeTV’s ‘Rishon Ka Mela', which was a 10-episode series in April 2015, and the show aired its last episode in May of the same year.

Sargun Mehta in Punjabi Movies

Sargun, after creating a name in Hindi television, ventured into the Punjabi movie industry in 2015 and debuted along with Amarinder Gill in the movie ‘Angrej’. The movie became the second-highest-grossing movie of that year and got the actors a lot of appreciation and love. She then starred in ‘Love Punjab’ in 2016 and bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Punjabi Films).

She continued to appear in films like ‘Jindua’ and then in ‘Lahoriye’ as Amiran, for which she won her second Filmfare award.

In 2018, she starred in one of her biggest films, ‘Qismat’ alongside Ammy Virk, for which she won the PTC Film Award for Best Actress.

She then did a commercially successful film in 2019 with Binnu Dhillon called ‘Kala Shah Kala', which was the highest-grossing Punjabi movie of the year. She then starred with Gippy Grewal in ‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’ and with Gurnam Bhullar in ‘Surakhi Bindi’ 

She then went on to co-produce her fourth release of the year, ‘Jhalle’. She produced the movie with her co-actor, Bunny Dhillon.

After the pandemic in 2021, Sargun came back with ‘Qismat 2’, the sequel to her 2018 film alongside Ammy Virk and Tanya. In 2022, she did the romantic comedy ‘Sunken Sunkane’ with Ammy Virk and Nimrat Khaira. She again starred alongside Gurnam Bhullar in ‘Ghund Kadh Le Ni Sohreyan Da Pind Aa Gaya'. She made a public appearance in ‘Challa Mud ke ni aaya’ and did a Hindi film with Akshay Kumar called ‘Cuttputli’. Sargun had two more releases for the year in the form of ‘Moh’ and ‘Babe Bhangra Paunde ne’.

In 2023, Sargun made two films, ‘Nigah Marda Ayi Ve’ and ‘Sidhus of Southall’. This year, Sargun had one release, which was a horror comedy called ‘Jatt Nu Chudail Takari’ along with Gippy Grewal and Roopi Gill.

Works other than fiction and movies -

Sargun, in the course of becoming who she is today, is featured in many shows other than daily soaps and later movies. 

In the initial years of her career, Sargun appeared in Comedy Circus along with Kapil Sharma but later quit due to her busy schedule.

She walked ramps for many fashion shows and participated in reality shows like ‘Nach Baliye 5’ in which she came in 2nd.

She also appeared as guests on shows like ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’, ‘Bigg Boss 9', and ‘Farah ki Dawat’.

She also featured in several music videos, of which the most famous ones are ‘Qismat’ with Ammy Virk, ‘Titliyan’ with Hardy Sandhu, and the most recent one with her husband, ‘Ve Haaniyaan’.

Prominent production works:

Sargun Mehta started a production house with her husband Ravi Dubey by the name of ‘Dreamiyata Entertainment’. She co-produced her own film with Binnu Dhillon and later went on to produce a Hindi television series.

She became a successful producer with songs like ‘Udaariyan’, ‘Junooniyat’, ‘Swan Ghar’, 'Dalchini', and ‘Badal pe pain hai’.

Sargun Mehta Personal life-

The couple met on the sets of the show 12/24 Karol Bagh, in which they starred opposite each other. When Sargun was shown Ravi’s photographs, she did not have a good impression of him, as he was playing the character who was mentally disturbed, but she found him cute when she saw him in person. Ravi found her to be an introvert, but when they got to know each other, they found that they had a lot in common and slowly formed a really deep connection with one another. 

They did not say I LOVE YOU to each other but felt that they were more than friends and that they appeared to be dating, so they accepted it and went ahead with that. The two then participated in the couple dance reality show Nach Baliye 5, in which they were announced as the first runner-up. Ravi even proposed to Sargun on the show itself, and they went on to marry a year later, in December 2013. It has been 10 years of their relationship, and to celebrate it, they did a music video together, ‘Ve Haaniyaan', which became really popular and got the couple a lot of love from the audiences.

Sargun Mehta's Net Worth

Sargun is said to have a net worth of approximately INR 50 crores and two luxury cars: one is a Jaguar gifted to her by her husband, and one is a BMW X7, which the couple bought in 2020.
