Mrunal Thakur on Bollywood's dark side! Recalls when she was asked to lose weight to get into films
Bollywood is starry, it screams sheer luxury and one's unfathomable struggle to access fame. It is said, to get into Bollywood, you need to struggle and bring yourself at level one among the top 1% of the everyday strugglers whose dreams are bigger than their own life! But behind those big cheques, chandelier apartments and light-camera-action, there's a lot that only few of the 'now' successful stars talks about. The hardship and it's dark side that will make you think twice, or may be tenth times before admiring the hollow industry. From the past few years, many stars have revealed their own experiences of evil within Bollywood which they have intially faced before breaking into the mainstream films and recently Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur threw some astonishing light on it's glitzy looking world.
Recently during an interview, the 'Hi Nanna' actress, Mrunal Thakur took her fans through the not-so-talked side of Bollywood's casting where she recalled one of her casting moment when a film director during a meeting has stated her about not being sexy at all. Confused Mrunal, reverted back with a question and asked whether he is talking about the character of herself to which, the director has replied that "the character is but I just don’t see you like that."
She even recalled a moment while a photograpger missed her for not being that 'sexy' to be an actress. It was one of the moment when Mrunal was asked for a look test to be done and when the photographer comes in, he walks past right her as he could not imagine her to be 'the character' to which he even apologised to Miss Thakur. Continuing ahead with her chat, Mrunal siad, "Later on, he came to me and apologized. I have immense faith in my team because they transform me. As an actor, it is important for me to be neutral, because then all the filmmakers around me can mould me into that character."
The Sita Raman actress further expressed about the hollowness of the industry as it's ideology of being an superstar revolves around being perfection. The beauty within Bollywood has some serious issues with it's real meaning. Unlike the casting directors, for Mrunal even the dead skin on her toe feels normal and hot but it indifferent with Bollywood's inside ideology. She later on recalled one of the incident while she was severely asked about loosing weight. "What is it that people want to see? I did a song and people were like don’t do this, you have to lose weight. I said, listen, I have thick thighs and I own them, and I am so comfortable. If I am not uncomfortable, then why are you uncomfortable?," she continued.
