Kareena Kapoor Reveals Why Money Has Never Been a Motive in Her Career Choice

For over two decades, Kareena Kapoor has reigned supreme in Bollywood, etching her name into the annals of the industry’s most celebrated and accomplished actresses. Her illustrious career is not merely a testament to her enduring popularity but also a reflection of her immense talent and versatility. Often heralded as one of the highest-paid stars in Indian cinema, Kareena Kapoor recently addressed the prevailing discourse surrounding her substantial earnings, offering insights into her approach towards her craft and career.

The Financial Frontier of Fame

In a recent discussion with The Week, Kareena Kapoor was queried about her status as one of Bollywood's highest-paid actresses. Contrary to what one might expect from someone of her financial standing, Kareena elucidated that monetary considerations have never been a primary motivator in her selection of roles. Rather, she emphasised that her choices are driven by the significance of the roles and their potential to advance her career.

When confronted with the knowledge that she earns between 10 to 15 crore rupees per film, Kareena responded with characteristic candour: “I hope so! I want that! But it’s not about my acting... The films I select are not driven by money. It’s always been about the roles I like; if I’m interested in a role, I’d do the film even for less money. It depends on my mood and how the film and role align with my interests.” This revelation underscores her intrinsic motivation—an artist’s pursuit of meaningful and engaging work over mere financial reward.

The Struggle and Humour of Stardom

Despite her towering success, Kareena Kapoor remains grounded and self-effacing. She shared her belief that she is at a pivotal juncture in her career, one filled with opportunities yet to be fully realised. With a touch of humour, she reflected on her status in high-budget commercial cinema, acknowledging that no amount of acclaim seems sufficient. She wryly admitted to feeling "struggling," partly because she resides in her husband Saif Ali Khan's home, a statement reflecting her light-hearted approach to her personal and professional life.

Tributes and Upcoming Ventures

Kareena Kapoor’s forthcoming projects are eagerly anticipated by fans and critics alike. She is set to reprise her role in the much-anticipated third installment of the Singham franchise, Singham Again. This film will see her share screen space with a stellar cast including Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone. Kareena has expressed her deep respect and admiration for Ajay Devgn, with whom she has worked on multiple occasions. “I have been very fortunate to have worked with Ajay multiple times and have known him for many years, even before I became an actress. He is an exceptional actor and a wonderful person. I consider him a true friend, and we genuinely enjoy working together,” she noted. Singham Again is slated for release on November 1.

Additionally, Kareena Kapoor’s fans will soon see her in Hansal Mehta’s The Buckingham Murders, a film set to debut on September 13. Her recent performance in Crew, alongside Tabu, Kriti Sanon, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kapil Sharma, has already garnered critical acclaim and commercial success, further cementing her position as a leading figure in contemporary cinema.
