Following Jailer's success, Rajnikanth teams up with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for his upcoming project 'Thalaivar 171'

The biggest announcement finally has made it to the shore! The rumors aren't rumors anymore! Following the utter success of the movie 'Jailer', Rajnikanth will be next seen in Thalaivar 171. Yes you heard it right as the 'Thalaivar 171' has finally made it's official announcement. For his upcoming project, Rajinikanth will be teaming up with Leo director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Followed by Sun Pictures bankrolling it's musical scores.

The announcement

Sun Pictures has made the official announcement on Twitter regarding 'Thalaivar 171'. Sharing it's first glimpse of poster, it wrote "We are happy to announce Superstar @rajinikanth’s #Thalaivar171, Written & Directed by @Dir_Lokesh, An @anirudhofficial musical, Action by @anbariv". The poster looked quite fiery as it was scorched in blood red in the background. The official announcement took the Rajni fans by surprise and thus left no chunks of power to express their happiness and gratitude on his most awaited project.

Jailer Success 

Meanwhile, Jailer had been one of the biggest hits of Rajnikanth's filmy career as it was able to score more than Rs. 600 crore at the global box office. Celebrating it's massive success Kalainthi Maran has recently presented Rajnikanth, director Nelson Dilipkumar and music composer Anirudh with whopping cheques and luxury cars.

The collaboration 

Interestingly, it is the their first ever that Lokesh Kanagraraj coming together with iconic Rajnikath. The filmmaker who is well known for cinematic masterpieces such as Maanagaram, Kaithi, and Master is now tying his seatbelts for his upcoming movie 'Leo' starring Thalapathy Vijay and Sanjay Dutt which is slatted to release on October 19, 2023. 

Rumors also suggests that 'Thalaivar 171' will be Rajnikanth's last film in his career as he will holding no more projects after the Lokesh's directorial. The icon who has contributed the Indian film industry from the last five decades is surely going to tremble if this rumors turns true!
