Krishna Das, originally named Jeffrey Kagel, began his spiritual journey in the 1960s. He travelled to India and became a disciple of Neem Karoli Baba, a spiritual leader revered by both Anushka and Virat. Anushka also shared a picture of Krishna Das performing on stage on her Instagram stories.
The event and the couple’s participation drew attention on social media. An X user highlighted the transformation in Virat Kohli's attitude towards spirituality, recalling his earlier dismissive comment about being the "puja types" during his tenure as the Vice Captain of the Indian Team. The user's post resonated with many, reflecting on how Virat has embraced religious activities alongside Anushka over the years.
Years ago, when asked if he performed religious rituals before a match, Virat had famously responded, "Do I look the puja-path types?" However, since then, he has been seen visiting various religious sites across India with Anushka.
The video of the couple at the kirtan also garnered praise from social media users, many of whom noted how Virat and Anushka chose a spiritual gathering over attending the high-profile Ambani wedding, which was attended by numerous celebrities.
Virat recently joined Anushka in London, where she has been residing with their children, Vamika and Akaay.
