When Shah Rukh Khan asked Kapil, ‘Drugs leta hai?’
Kapil Sharma, a well-known Indian comedian and television host, recently shared an anecdote from his early days in show business. In an interview, he opened up about how his mental health struggles affected his work. During this period, Kapil gained an unfavourable reputation in the industry due to his erratic behaviour, which frequently caused delays in shoots.
When asked if any big movie stars who appeared as guests on his show had taken offence when he failed to show up or kept them waiting, Kapil Sharma admitted that his mental health issues had led to disruptions in his work but nobody has taken that kind of offence yet.
He recalled that he had a shoot scheduled with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, but it was cancelled at the last minute. At that point, he said nothing. But after 3-4 days, Shah Rukh Khan gave Sharma some valuable advice that left a lasting impression on him.
Being an artist himself, Shahrukh knew what Kapil was going through and handled the situation very calmly. He called Kapil into the car, and they sat there for an hour talking wholeheartedly about what all was going on with Kapil.
Kapil remembers Shahrukh asking him “ Drugs Leta Hai?” to which he replied “No”. However, he had also expressed that he no longer had the desire to work. This counselling session had taught Kapil very nice things but this was not the time, he wanted to improve from within.
After nearly two years, with continuous efforts from his wife, when she took him away on a trip to Europe, he realized he had to bounce back and lead a normal life. Following his return to the small screen, Kapil is set to return to the big screen in his upcoming movie Zwigato, marking his first film appearance in several years.
Now life has taught him to be patient and stay positive even in the face of setbacks and we should also learn the importance of perseverance, resilience, and a positive attitude in achieving success in any industry.
