Unimpressed by Adipurush VFX? These 5 Bollywood VFX Are So Bad That They Are Borderline Funny

The much-anticipated film 'Adipurush,' directed by the talented Om Raut, has finally graced the silver screen, igniting a wave of excitement among movie enthusiasts. As the audience eagerly attended the first-day first show, their reactions have now flooded social media platforms. With Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon in leading roles, the film's teaser, released in October 2022, had already garnered immense attention. Notably, the film's visual effects (VFX) have been a topic of discussion, ranging from the portrayal of Ravana to the overall quality of the visual spectacle.

Revisiting the Era of Dreadful CGI and VFX

It is crucial to recall a time when Hindi films subjected audiences to distressing encounters with subpar CGI and VFX, leaving them in utter shock. Today, we will shed light on ten Bollywood films that epitomize this unfortunate trend.

1. Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon

This film, known for its excessive display of overacting, also fell short in terms of its computer-generated dog and parrot. Whether intended for comic effect or as a creative decision by the director, the parrot's screeches felt as though needles were piercing the audience's ears. It served little purpose and, regrettably, spoiled certain scenes in the film.

2. Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani

The producers of 'Jaani Dushman' seemed to have foreseen the film's potential to become a meme sensation, inadvertently leading to its resurgence in popularity. Even today, 'Jaani Dushman' continues to amuse through online memes. Apart from its hilariously peculiar plot and dialogues, the film's VFX was notably abysmal. A single glance at the provided image below suffices to gauge the quality of the visual effects.

3. Mohenjo Daro

Released in 2016, 'Mohenjo Daro' featured an exceptionally disappointing crocodile scene. The sudden appearance of the poorly rendered crocodile and its clumsy movements left the audience highly dissatisfied. Despite Hrithik Roshan's commendable acting, the subpar VFX overshadowed his performance, overshadowing the film's potential.

4. Kalank

Regardless of its overall quality, 'Kalank' will forever be remembered for its perplexing bullfighting sequence featuring Varun Dhawan. It begs the question: Did the creators genuinely believe that the audience wouldn't notice? With lavish sets and costumes, the film had the potential to incorporate an equally stunning special effect. Instead, witnessing this scene felt like the makers intended to include a cartoonish animated sequence, which didn't blend seamlessly with the film's aesthetic.

5. Half Girlfriend

While discussing 'Half Girlfriend' may not be of great interest, it is essential to address the absurd portrayal of a fake Bill Gates in the movie. The depiction was incredibly poor and lacked logical coherence, undermining the film's credibility.

Reflections on Filmmakers' Choices

It is quite perplexing that the makers of these films seemingly overlooked glaring flaws, such as the questionable Bill Gates scene in 'Half Girlfriend,' especially considering the year of release. It raises questions about the decision-making process and the lack of attention to detail, which ultimately affected the film's overall quality.
