Shatrughan Sinha Supports Daughter Sonakshi’s Marriage Amid Family Tensions
Veteran actor and Member of Parliament Shatrughan Sinha, aged 77, was discharged from the hospital a few days after being admitted. Addressing circulating rumours, Sinha clarified that his hospital visit was solely for a routine health check-up. Shatrughan Sinha also defended rumours of family tension amidst Sonakshi Sinha-Zaheer Iqbal's wedding.
“It was just my annual routine full-body check-up. I recommend it for everyone over 60. I've been traveling non-stop for my election campaign for three months. Then right after, my daughter got married. I am no longer that hot-blooded, energy-driven young man who could do three shifts a day and still have the energy to party all night. I need to slow down,” said Sinha.

The actor-politician seemed to address comments made by his son, Luv Sinha, regarding the marriage of his daughter, Sonakshi Sinha, to actor Zaheer Iqbal. Luv had confirmed his absence from the wedding, implying a lack of support for the union. In contrast, Shatrughan Sinha expressed his blessings for Sonakshi and Zaheer, countering the rumors that had surfaced weeks before the wedding.
The private wedding, held last month with only close friends and family, saw Shatrughan's other son, Kussh, in attendance, who noted it was a ‘sensitive time’ for the family.
Taking to social media platform X on Tuesday, Shatrughan Sinha thanked prominent personalities for their congratulatory messages, describing Sonakshi and Zaheer as a ‘made for each other couple’. He wrote, “Thanking everyone for their blessings, love & warm congratulatory messages. But most touched to have received extremely heartwarming affectionate wishes from the most learned, intellectual par excellence, the great Arun Shourie, elder brother, statesman Yashwant Sinha, & of course, the most deserving, Magsaysay Award winner Ravish Kumar for the ‘made for each other’ couple Sonakshi Sinha & Zaheer Iqbal.” He concluded his tweet with the hashtag, “#SinhaParivar.”
In the week leading up to the wedding, Shatrughan Sinha remarked that modern couples often make their own decisions without seeking parental permission. While he initially neither confirmed nor denied the marriage, he later publicly supported his daughter. Videos and images from the pre-wedding functions showcased his presence with the couple, including during the legal formalities under the Special Marriage Act.
