When queried about the portrayal of Johar in her biopic, Ranaut responded with characteristic candour. She stated, “Given the scale of my biopic, minor, local figures won’t be villains. Karan Johar will be depicted as a secondary villain.” This remark underscores her view of Johar’s role within her narrative, positioning him not as a central antagonist but as a secondary figure in the broader scope of her cinematic recounting.
Ranaut elaborated on her perception of the film industry, describing it as superficial and transient. She criticised the tendency of industry insiders to make fleeting statements, only to fade into obscurity. Reflecting on her past experiences, particularly her appearance on Koffee with Karan, Ranaut revealed the subsequent interactions with Johar. “Karan Johar is well aware of his own actions. He is quite cunning and had decided at the time to seek revenge against me. However, that was merely a phase,” she recounted, highlighting the cyclical nature of their relationship.
The conversation also touched on Ranaut’s personal experiences of being targeted and her subsequent decision to leave India. She reminisced about a time when her acting was lauded, yet critics were sceptical about her future in Bollywood.
