The movie starring Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri has a dramatic storyline with music composed by legendary AR Rahman. The movie garnered intense love from the country as well as worldwide and was able to collect Rs. 108.7 crores at the box office.

Imtiaz's other romantic drama, box-office hit 'Tamasha' is a 2015 movie starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Produced by Sajid Nadiawala under the banner of Nadiwala Grandson Entertainment. Amar Singh Chamkila is a recently released musical biopic drama that premiered on Netflix on April 12, 2024. As the name suggests, the film revolves around the life of the legendary singer Chamkila and how he rose to become a global sensation before being gunned down at the age of 27 in 1988. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film also stars Apinderdeep Singh, Rahul Mittra, Nisha Bano, Anjum Batra, Vipin Katyal, and Udaybir Sandhumore in some significant roles.
