Imran Khan shares his anxiousness while doing 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola' in 2013!

Imran Khan is one of the most lovable actors of the rom-com Bollywood. Often recalled as the 'Sweet Boy' of the industry, from 'Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na' to 'I Hate Luv Stories', Imran has given some of the most impeccable rom-coms during the 2000's Bollywood and ruled the hearts of million girls at a point. Although backed from Bollywood many years back, the star often reminisces his early days spent on the sets curating those rom-com masterpieces unabashedly on his Instagram handle.

The Post

Just like the previous moments, Imran Khan on Monday has taken over his IG handle to take his fans through the memory lane of his 2013 film, 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola'. While sharing the post he captioned a long statement sharing his experience pre, post and during the shoot, where he also confessed that it was Ajay Devgn who was chosen as Matru for the movie and not Imran. He wrote, "I was never supposed to be Matru. The film was launched with Ajay Devgn attached as Matru, but he chose to withdraw before filming could commence". It was during the time when Imran was collecting the applauses from the movies such as 'Delhi Belly' and 'MBKD'. "And close to wrapping the shoot of EMAET when I got the call; Vishal Bhardwaj wanted to meet me! I was thrilled. He told me about his passion project, a story he had been carrying close to his heart," he added.

His first movie of such genre!

Always known for his rom-com aesthetic and personality, the cult collaboration was surely the actor's first one of a kind movie to commence under Vishal. Further penning down about his feeling of nervousness, he wrote, "To accomplish this, I moved to Delhi and started intensive workshops with the legendary NK Sharma and some of his students. Panditji, as we affectionately called him, was the first person to point out the negative Voice in my head. "You only listen to the voice that tells you you are worthless", he told me, "why do you disrespect the thousands of voices that say they love you?". I listened to his words, but I didn't really hear them."

His casting was based on the budget!

It was a thing during the time while Ajay Devgn was a much high end actor of Bollywood and Imran's casting was based on his budget. Talking about the same, he stated, "I was anxious and terrified through the shoot of the film. I couldn't shake the feeling that Vishal had never really wanted me for this part, that my casting was based more on the budget that my presence could afford than the director's belief in me. And so it came to be that once we wrapped the shoot, I turned tail and ran, never looking back. I didn't even watch the final cut of the film when it was done".

But the after-results has seemed to amaze him with the risk that he has taken during his successful career. "Having a surreal, absurdist tone, the film was pretty well skewered upon release... but what can I say, I'm proud as hell of this movie. It was a bold experiment, a story that absolutely needed to see the light of day, and I consider it my privilege to have been a part of the team that made it happen," he stated while feeling the prowess of his very much experimental project. At last he was also seen revealing his inability of riding a bike during those time, "I couldn't ride a motorcycle when I signed on, so I had to take lessons. I learned to ride Matru's Bullet in between shots while filming the 'Auntyji' song from EMAET" he continued.
