Director Amar Kaushik Breaks Silence on Shraddha Kapoor's Limited Screen Time in 'Stree 2'

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's latest cinematic venture, Stree 2, has made a spectacular impact on the box office, amassing an impressive ₹250 crore within just six days of its release. This remarkable achievement underscores the film's overwhelming appeal and the high anticipation it generated among audiences. However, despite its commercial success, the film has not been without its share of criticism, particularly concerning the relatively limited screen time allocated to Kapoor's character.

In response to this criticism, director Amar Kaushik has offered a comprehensive explanation. During an interview, Kaushik addressed the concerns with clarity, noting, "Several people have mentioned this, but it was dictated by the character's requirements. If you observe, Abhishek Banerjee is also on screen for only 40 minutes in the film. It was the opposite with Aparshakti. This was what the script demanded. While under the control of the 'Sarcutta,' he was in a state of madness, and after that, he evolves into something else."

Kaushik further elaborated on the rationale behind Shraddha Kapoor's limited presence on screen, stating, "We wrote what was essential to the story. We didn't deliberate on whether an actor might take offense or whether a role was large or small. For us, the script's integrity is paramount. Everything should unfold naturally. My producer also granted me the creative freedom to approach it this way. Some viewers were disappointed with Shraddha's limited screen presence, but had she appeared more frequently, the impact of her entry would have been diminished."
