Actor Rakul Preet Singh's Brother Involved in Drug Racket, Police Busts Nigerian-run Operation
The Telangana police, has identified actor Rakul Preet Singh's brother, Amanpreet Singh, was among 13 individuals in connection with a drug racket allegedly operated by Nigerian nationals. The raid, conducted at a flat in Hydershakotla, Narsingi, resulted in the seizure of 199 grams of cocaine valued at ₹35 lakh, along with two passports, two motorcycles, 10 mobile phones, and other incriminating evidence.
The joint operation involved the Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau, Cyberabad Police's Special Operations Team (SOT), and Rajendranagar Police, leading to the arrest of five drug sellers, including two Nigerians. Authorities revealed that the syndicate was targeting high-profile customers in Hyderabad.
According to a police official, investigations are ongoing to determine Amanpreet Singh's specific links within the network. "We are examining the duration and extent of his association with the accused, which includes individuals from both Indian and Nigerian origins, some with previous criminal records," stated the official.
The police also confirmed that Amanpreet Singh tested positive for cocaine use. While acknowledging his status as an actor, they did not specify whether his involvement was linked to Tollywood or other entertainment sectors.
Highlighting the broader impact, authorities identified a total of 13 affluent consumers in Hyderabad who are allegedly involved in perpetuating a drug ecosystem. Out of these, six individuals have been apprehended, all of whom tested positive for cocaine in urine tests.
This incident echoes previous legal scrutiny faced by Rakul Preet Singh, who was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate last year in connection with a separate drug trafficking and consumption case. The actor, aged 33, had previously provided statements to investigative agencies in 2021 and 2022 regarding these matters.
