Amrita Singh was born on February 9, 1958, into a Sikh-Muslim family in Hadali, Pakistan. She did her primary schooling at Modern School in New Delhi. Her Father was an Army officer and her mother was a political associate of the Late Sanjay Gandhi during the stage of national emergency. Amrita Singh was the niece of the former novelist, Khushwant Singh, the writer of ‘Train to Pakistan.’

After thirteen continuous years of marriage life, They decided to move apart and divorced in 2004. Despite the parents’ divorced, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali khan, their children stayed in a good relationship with both parents.
