If you’re a fan of 90’s Hindi films then the name ‘Divya Bharti’ must bring a flashback of memories. Divya Bharti, who happened to be one of the top paid actresses in her time starred in a number of commercially successful Hindi and Telugu films in early 1990s.
5th April 1993, the day when Bharti fell off the balcony of her fifth floor apartment at the Tulsi buildings in Versova, Mumbai gripped the entire nation in state of shock. The immediate cause of death was stated as the heavy internal bleeding at the back of the head which was severely injured. The reason of falling was never established and several theories circulated in the media during that time, including falling under influence of alcohol, push by someone, suicide, and involvement of her husband and underworld mafia.
After so many years, the details of Divya Bharti’s activities on 5th April have been disclosed. It is being said that Divya was supposed to leave for Hyderabad on 5th April for the shoot but she had to cancel it as she had to go complete the process of registering her newly bought flat under her name.
Divya reached home around 10 at night where her friend and designer had come to visit her along with her husband. As per reports, all three of them were drinking while sitting in the living room when no one had a clue that such terrible incident was destined to take place after a few minutes.
Around 11 O’ Clock, when Amrita (Divya Bharti’s maid) had gone to the kitchen to prepare food and Neeta and her husband were watching TV, Divya walked towards the window of her room while she talked to her maid in loud voice. As per reports, Divya’s living room did not have any balcony and didn’t have any grills either. It was only then that Divya lost her balance and fell off the building landed on the surface beneath with a loud thud. She was declared brought dead upon reaching hospital.
