Raveena Tandon Opens Up About Turning Down 'Chaiyya Chaiyya'

Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon recently discussed her decision to decline the opportunity to feature in the iconic song "Chaiyya Chaiyya" in a chat about her career choices. She expressed concerns about being pigeonholed into certain roles and explained why she turned down films alongside Shah Rukh Khan.

Raveena's Revealation about 'Chaiyya Chaiyya'

In an interview, Raveena revealed that she was offered the song that eventually featured Malaika Arora. Despite her eagerness to work with renowned director Mani Ratnam,  Raveena felt hesitant about accepting another item song immediately after the success of "Sheher Ki Ladki." In those days, she was wary of getting typecast and stereotyped into specific roles.

Reflecting on her decision, Raveena acknowledged the enduring appeal of "Chaiyya Chaiyya." She mentioned that, even though the song was fantastic, she didn't want to risk being typecast. She shared her belief in the concept of a "parallel life" and the choices that shape one's career trajectory.

Turning Down SRK Films

Raveena also disclosed that she declined roles in films like "Darr," "Desi Babu English Men," and "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai," all starring Shah Rukh Khan. Despite rejecting these projects, she praised SRK, emphasizing her admiration for him as one of the warmest people on the planet.

Raveena Tandon's Recent Projects

Raveena Tandon was recently seen in the 7-episode series "Karmma Calling," which premiered on Disney+ Hotstar on January 26th. Directed by Ruchi Narain, the series showcases Raveena's exceptional performance as Indrani Kothari. She also teased her upcoming appearance in "Welcome To The Jungle," the third installment of the Welcome film franchise, directed by Ahmed Khan. The film reunites her with Akshay Kumar and features a stellar ensemble cast.
