Bollywood director Karan Johar has filed a lawsuit against the creators of the Hindi film "Shaadi ke Director Karan aur Johar," objecting to using his name in the movie's title. The suit, filed through DSK Legal, is directed at the producers IndiaPride Advisory and Sanjay Singh, as well as writer-director Bablu Singh.

Karan Johar is seeking a permanent injunction to prevent the defendants from using his name in the film's title. The case was mentioned on Wednesday for an urgent stay on the film's release, scheduled for June 14.

Justice RI Chagla has agreed to hear Johar's plea for urgent relief on Thursday. Johar claims that he has no connection with the film or its creators, who are unlawfully using his name, violating his personality rights, and infringing on his publicity and privacy rights.

Johar argues that the unauthorized use of his name is an attempt to capitalize on his goodwill and reputation, which is not allowed by law. He emphasizes that the film's trailers and posters, already released in public areas and on social media, have caused significant damage to his reputation and could lead to further irreparable harm if the film is released under its current title.

Representing Johar are Parag Khandhar, Chandrima Mitra, Pranita Saboo, and Anaheeta Verma from DSK Legal. The team is seeking to protect Johar's rights and prevent further damage to his established brand and reputation.
