Furthermore, the government has announced the blocking of 19 websites, 10 applications, and 57 social media accounts associated with these platforms across the nation. The ministry's press release confirms the ban on 18 OTT platforms along with the aforementioned online entities, citing violations of the Information Technology Act, the Indian Penal Code, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur underscored the significance of platforms refraining from promoting obscenity, vulgarity, and misconduct under the guise of 'creative expression'. This statement elucidates the government's commitment to upholding moral standards and safeguarding societal values in the digital realm.
The decision to enforce these bans aligns with the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000. It follows meticulous consultations with domain experts from various ministries, departments of the Indian government, as well as experts in media and entertainment, women's rights, and child rights.

The banned OTT platforms include Dreams Films, Voovi, Yessma, Uncut Adda, Tri Flicks, X Prime, Neon X VIP, MoodX, Besharams, Hunters, Rabbit, Xtramood, Nuefliks, Mojflix, Hot Shots VIP, Fugi, and Chikooflix. These platforms have been found culpable of disseminating content that violates legal statutes and societal norms.
