Sunny Leone, the vivacious Bollywood actress often dubbed as Bollywood's baby doll, finds herself once again amidst media frenzy, albeit for controversial reasons this time. Scheduled to host a stage show at the College of Engineering, Kerala University, her plans were abruptly halted by the stern directive of Dr. Mohanan Kunnumal, the University's Chancellor.

The Background

Originally slated for July 5th, Sunny Leone's stage show was expected to be a major attraction. However, the Chancellor's decision to bar her performance stems from recent events that have cast a shadow over such gatherings on university campuses. This decision is a direct consequence of the chaos that ensued during a music festival at the Cochin University of Science and Technology last November. Tragically, four lives were lost and many others injured, prompting the Kerala High Court to attribute the incident to organizational lapses. Consequently, a statewide prohibition was imposed on similar events, including DJ nights, to prevent any recurrence of such mishaps.

University's Stand

In adherence to these directives, Dr. Mohanan Kunnumal has taken a firm stance against hosting any events that could potentially disturb campus peace or safety. Despite initial plans by the college to proceed with Sunny Leone's program, the Chancellor's decision underscores a strict "no tolerance" policy towards events organized under the banner of student unions or otherwise.

Sunny Leone's Career

While this controversy unfolds, Sunny Leone's career continues to flourish. Renowned for her roles in Bollywood hits like 'Jism 2', 'Ragini MMS 2', and 'Mastizaade', she has also made notable strides in South Indian cinema with films such as 'The Ivan' and 'Mridu Bhawe Dhruva Kruthe'. Her recent appearance in the 2023 film 'Canadian', alongside Rahul Bhat, further highlights her versatile acting prowess and expanding repertoire in the industry.
