In a revealing interview, Prem Sagar, a key figure in the creation of the iconic Ramayana series, shed light on the dedicated efforts that went into bringing this epic to life. Of particular note was the unwavering commitment of Dara Singh, the acclaimed actor entrusted with the portrayal of the mighty Hanuman.

Prem Sagar disclosed a remarkable aspect of Dara Singh's commitment – the actor observed a daily 9-hour fast during the filming. This self-imposed discipline was not without its challenges, as Dara Singh reported to the set at 4 AM to accommodate the extensive three to four-hour makeup session, eschewing the use of prosthetics to meticulously match his appearance with the prosthetic Hanuman. The shooting would commence post-makeup, and Singh would steadfastly abstain from eating until 9 AM, adding a formidable layer of difficulty to his already demanding role.

Further insight into the challenges faced by Dara Singh revealed the difficulty he encountered while sitting after donning the Hanuman tail. To alleviate this issue, a specially designed chair with a tailored cutout was arranged, providing Singh the comfort he needed while maintaining the authenticity of his character.

The resurgence of Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana during the lockdown captured widespread attention, prompting a re-airing of the series on television. Even in the present day, the enthusiasm with which audiences engage with the series remains unparalleled.
