In a tragic turn of events, renowned Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been found guilty in the high-profile Renukaswamy murder case. The actor, accused of killing one of his ardent fans, now faces imprisonment. The case, which has garnered substantial media attention, saw the arrest of Darshan alongside actress Pavitra Gowda in June. Most recently, Darshan's family paid him an emotional visit in jail.
On Monday, Darshan's mother, brother, wife, and son visited him at the Central Jail in Parappana Agrahara, situated on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The reunion was a poignant moment, with Darshan breaking down in tears upon seeing his family after a prolonged separation.
According to police sources, the actor's mother Meena, brother Dinakar, wife Vijayalakshmi, and son Vinish arrived at the jail on Monday morning. During the visit, both Darshan and his mother were overcome with emotion, while his brother provided much-needed comfort. The visit, however, sparked controversy as Darshan's family was granted priority access to see him. It is notable that his family had not visited him during his police custody nor after his transfer to the jail.
The gravity of the situation stems from the brutal murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga. The investigation unveiled a disturbing sequence of events: Renukashwami, a devoted fan of Darshan, had sent offensive messages to Pavitra Gowda on social media. This provocation led to his abduction, subsequent torture, and eventual murder in a shed in Bengaluru. Darshan, along with Pavitra Gowda and 15 other individuals, was implicated in this heinous crime.
Currently, Darshan remains in judicial custody until July 4. The 47-year-old actor, a prominent figure in the Kannada film industry with an extensive fan following, has appeared in numerous South Indian films. The case has not only shocked his fans but has also cast a shadow over his illustrious career.
