'The Kashmir Files' row: The Kashmir Files was referred to as "propaganda and filthy" during the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) closing ceremony by a jury member. Now on the remarks made by the jury, Vivek Agnihotri has shared his statement.
Director Vivek posted a video to Instagram with the remark "Terror supporters and Genocide deniers can never silence me. Jai Hind. #TheKashmirFiles #ATrueStory."
While reacting to the IFFI remark, Vivek stated a jury member at IFFI referred to "The Kashmir Files" as obscene and propaganda. Vivek said that this remark is nothing new to him because various terrorist organizations, urban Naxals, and those who wish to partition India frequently make statements of similar nature. But what shocks him the most is that this terrorist-instigated narrative of Kashmir being divided from India was endorsed on stage at a gathering hosted by the Indian government.

The Kashmir Files was called a "propaganda, vulgar picture" by Nadav Lapid, who also expressed disbelief at witnessing the movie in the competition category of such an esteemed film festival. Lapid might be seen slamming the movie in a popular festival video.
While concluding Vivek said he challenges all the urban Naxals and the legendary filmmaker that if they can prove any single shot or even a dialogue is not completely true then he will quit filmmaking.
Many people found Lapid's comments offensive. In addition to director Ashoke Pandit and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Vice President Abhinav Prakash, actors Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumaar, who played a significant role in "The Kashmir Files," were among those who opposed the controversial remarks.

The film "The Kashmir Files," which hit theatres earlier this year, recounted the 1990s Hindu exodus and the targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits.
Anupam Kher received accolades for his performance, and the film went on to become one of the highest-grossing Bollywood movies of 2022.
