23-year-old Sukhdeep Singh, a final-year medical student at Chinese University, set to create history by becoming the first turbaned doctor in Hong Kong. Sukhdeep Singh has set an example for others following Sikhism across the world.
Wearing a Turban is a mandatory part of Sikh religion. Sukhdeep, born and brought up in Hong Kong, continues to embrace Sikhism and considered wearing Turban as a thing of proud.

Though, Sukhdeep Singh faced various difficulties in the beginning, but he kept himself determined and now he is on the verge of creating history.
“Patients might develop a different perspective on people with turbans in Hong Kong when they see me, a turbaned doctor, and, hopefully, start to view other ethnic minorities differently,” Sukhdeep Singh, who is one of about 12,000 Sikhs in Hong Kong told South China Morning Post.

Besides, Sukhdeep Singh is also working on a mission to empower ethnic minority youth in Hong Kong. For this, he has set up a non-profit organization,Pargaas along with other young professionals.

With Pargaas, Sukhdeep Singh wants to change the perspective of majority towards the minorities.
According to a report in South China Morning Post, “NGO Pargaas building a database on the characteristics of the Sikh community to look at what needs to be improved.”
