'Kantara' movie in Oscars 2023: The year 2023 is off to a wonderful start for Kannada film, as Rishab Shetty's "Kantara" qualified for the Academy Awards in the Best Picture and Best Actor categories.
Kantara, the massive smash directed by actor Rishab Shetty, received two nominations for the Oscars on Tuesday. Hombale Films' Kannada environmentalist drama, which was dubbed in five languages, entered the 'Best Picture' and 'Best Actor' categories for the Oscars.

It is worth noticing that Rishabh Shetty's 'Kantara' was among the highest-grossed films of 2022. The movie managed to garner more than the Rs 400 crore mark at the global level in 100 days of run in theaters.

"Kantara," which was written and directed by Rishab Shetty, was released on September 30 only in Kannada.
The legendary tale about the deity is skillfully woven into the movie along with the Bhoota Kola tradition, which is followed in Karnataka.
As a result of the unexpected popularity of the movie in Karnataka and other regions of India, the filmmakers were compelled to subtitle it in additional languages over the course of several weeks.
