Satinder Sartaaj launches Urdu poetry album: Punjabi singer Satinder Sartaaj recently launched his Urdu poetry album Shayrana Sartaaj' in Mumbai. The singer was joined by Bollywood actor Shabana Azmi and lyricist-writer Javed Akhtar.

It features wonderful poetries in the practically extinct 'Urdu' language from Punjab. By releasing a collection of poems in the virtually extinct Urdu language from Punjab, Dr. Satinder Sartaaj has once more achieved an important milestone.

Satinder Sartaaj about the album said, "Call it an idea or a wish, it is often a very non-commercial thing," singer Satinder Sartaaj stated. The Punjab Music Industry, where I'm from has a cut-throat competition. Others used to question why I was considering making this idea public in a visual style and advised making it public in an audio format when I first had the idea.
Sufi music is the subject of my dissertation, but I never imagined that I would write it in Urdu since neither that language nor I speak it frequently. This is a lovely coincidence, nonetheless."
Javed Akhtar emphasised the value of the Urdu language and the contribution Punjab made to its historical development and significance in his remarks at the ceremony. The poet-lyricist emphasised that "Hindustan" is the true home of the Urdu language, not Pakistan or Egypt.
