Released in theaters on August 25, the movie embarked on its journey with a staggering opening day collection of Rs 2.30 crore. Helmed by the visionary director Sharan Art, "Mastaney" takes audiences on a riveting voyage back to the year 1739, immersing them in the heart-stirring account of Sikh rebels' audacious assault on Nadir Shah's formidable army.

Amid the ever-evolving landscape of cinema, "Mastaney" dares to stand out by delving into a narrative set against the backdrop of 18th-century Punjab. The film masterfully weaves a tale of courage, determination, and valor, paying a poignant tribute to the unwavering spirit of the Sikhs who valiantly faced adversity. Notably, the film's grandeur and scale are a testament to its commitment to cinematic excellence, setting new benchmarks for Punjabi cinema.

Directed with precision by Sharan Art, the film elegantly unfolds an epoch-making event from Sikh history, transporting viewers to the year 1739, a time of tumultuous change. During this period, the Iranian ruler Nadir Shah laid siege to Delhi, ultimately prevailing over the Mughal ruler Muhammad Shah. The historical relevance of this episode is meticulously brought to life on screen, thanks to the film's attention to detail and adherence to historical accuracy.

One of the standout achievements of "Mastaney" is its stunning visual representation of 18th-century Punjab. The film's production design, elaborate visual effects, and authentic costumes seamlessly merge to recreate the vibrant tapestry of Lahore in the 1700s.

The cast of "Mastaney" comprises a constellation of talented actors, including Tarsem Singh Jassar, Simi Chahal, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, Baninder Bunny, Honey Mattu, Rahul Dev, Avtar Gill, and Arif Zakaria. Their performances infuse life and depth into the characters, adding a layer of authenticity to the historical narrative.

Interestingly, "Mastaney" encountered a clash at the box office, releasing alongside the highly anticipated "Dream Girl 2," starring Ayushmann Khurrana. While the latter debuted with an impressive opening collection of Rs 9.70 crore, "Mastaney" held its own, amassing a commendable Rs 2.30 crore on its opening day and showing promise for further growth.
