'Blind' Movie Review; It lacks thrill, enticement and delving storyline, however Sonam's character screams rawness!
The moment you will think it might gear up for some enticing scenes and twists, it will undoubtedly disappoint you. Directed by Some Makhija, the poorly written, crooked movie lacks thrill, craving enticement and a mind bending storyline.
'Blind' is a new suspense-crime-thriller started premiering on JioCinema on July 07, 2023. Starring Sonam Kapoor, the actress has returned into cinema's after four years of gap. With it's previously released trailer, the makers have cunningly convinced the audience of it's gripping storyline but after-results however did not seem to impress me including many others. In short the new Sonam Kapoor starrer movie fails to convince viewer with it's cliché predictable yet very non-intriguing screen presentation. A total mess of such a worthy movie!
'Blind' un-apologetic Review
The movie starts off in a slow pace and continues till forever until it bores you. The moment you will think it might gear up for some enticing scenes and twists, it will undoubtedly disappoint you. it did to me at least! The movie is no doubt well made but it is however not the way a viewer expects an execution. I anticipated numerous times for amazement and jaw-dropping moments but as i said, a two hour of mere disappointment. Neither it starts well nor ends well. Meanwhile, It is Sonam Kapoor Ahuja who played the character of Gia impeccably. Her rawness could be seen throughout the movie! As it is a rare treat of getting served by a well executed crime thriller, it is no different in 'Blind' too. Directed by Some Makhija, the poorly written, crooked movie lacks thrill, craving enticement and a mind bending storyline.
A boring execution
As I referred earlier the movie starts slow while it also starts sad. It revolves around a female cop Gia Singh who lives with her dog 'Elsa'. Gia lost her sight in an accident and a tragic grief sticks to her throughout for killing someone very close to her. Her life takes an unexpected turn while she was driven by a cab driver(Purab Kohli) and she senses some mis-happening and suspects bitterness of the silence. To which Gia files a complain to the cops and Prithvi(Vinay Pathak) is assigned to investigate the case further. What starts off then is an unpleasing cat-and-mouse race that delves Gia against the criminal, who brutally kidnaps, rape and kills girls unabashedly. You might be thinking what is so sad for complaining a boring execution here? I'm right there. The sadness starts off when it did not unfolds the criminal's history. Why he became a criminal? what made him a sexual predator? what made him so merciless? Is there a traumatizing past? Zero. There's absolutely no back history of the criminal where people could relate to a crime thriller as it promises.
The Final Verdict
However, I don't have any complain regarding it's editing and cinematography. The film's cinematographer Gairik Sarkar did an exceptional job and color graded perfectly which made it a seemingly fascinated crime thriller. And the good part is that's that! I even had issues with it's dialogues. Throughout the movie, there's even zero punching dialogue that could swoop me away with excitement. The climax end's with Gia's theory which did not make it a two way movie among the lead characters. At the end, I wish, the creator would have added some more twists, turns, character development, unpredictable plot and and an immaculate climax! My final verdict of the movie would be - "It lacked the most essential elements of a criminal thriller. While, keeping the complains aside, the movie can only be watched for Sonam's character play and an intriguing cinematography! Else, the film has nothing to serve."
