Oscars 2023: Kajol, Suriya, Reema Kagti and others get invitation from Academy Committee

Oscars 2023: The world's most prestigious film award, Oscars 2023 has invited renowned South film actor Suriya Shivakumar, Bollywood actress Kajol and others to join the Academy Awards Committee.

Suriya becomes the first Tamil actor to join the Academy Award Committee. In addition, Bollywood actress Kajol is also listed among these 397 other renowned people.

The renowned Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited Tamil superstar Suriya to join for the year 2022, making him the first actor from the south to receive such an honour.

This year, the Academy also extended invitations to filmmaker Reema Kagti and Bollywood actress Kajol to join as members. As per the sources, Kajol is the only Hindi film actress to receive an invitation to join this year.

Other stalwarts of the Indian cinema industry who have been invited to join the committee in addition to Kajol and Suriya include screenwriter and filmmaker Reema Kagti, as well as filmmakers Sushmit Ghosh, Rintu Thomas, and Pan Nalin.

Invitations were sent to Ghosh and Thomas, whose recent documentary film "Writing With Fire" was nominated in the best documentary feature category.

The upcoming Oscars, which will be given in March 2023, will be selected by the members of the class of 2022. Over 300 new members were invited this year. According to reports, the 2022 category has 71 Oscar nominations, 15 winners, and those who accept the invitation will become members of the Academy in 2022.

Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, AR Rahman, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, Ali Fazal, Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, and Ekta Kapoor are more Indian celebrities that are members of the Academy.
