Natwar Lal: The Clever Criminal Of India Who Sold Taj Mahal

There are some people who can easily fool others, and not make them realise what’s coming next, Natwar Lal was one among them. Natwar Lal, escaped prison 9 times with ease, called himself a social worker, and asked the Indian judiciary to allow him to rob people with his sharp mind to repay all the debts taken from other countries.

If I say the priceless monuments like Taj Mahal, Red Fort, and Parliament of our country have been sold not just once or twice but thrice, would you believe? Yes, this has happened in the past. I am talking about a lawyer who later became a criminal and sold the beautiful monuments and parliament of our country. His trick of selling was very common yet interesting; he used to disguise himself as someone else and fool his clients. He once faked the signature of President Dr. Rajendra Prasad for selling, and also robbed Dhirubhai Ambani, the Tatas, the Birlas and many government employees by doing the same.

Natwar Lal, whose real name was Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava was born in Bangra a village in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, was a lawyer by profession and became a low-key don afterward. He was India's biggest conman who managed to sell monuments like the Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and Parliament to foreigners with ease.

Natwar Lal was wanted by the police of 8 states. He got arrested 9 times but he escaped the prison every time as he once managed to steal the uniform of a policeman and run out of the prison. The last arrest of conman happened to be in 1996 which he obviously escaped too after that he was never caught. Natwar Lal made fool out of the crime system by spreading the rumours of his death twice.

Natwar Lal inspired more people including Aviral Dixit who was a famous criminal too. The shocking part is that the people of Bangra demanded the central government to place a statue of Natwar in Bangra to remember him as a legend that was born in their land.
