Manoj Bajpayee's 'The Fable' to Compete at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival

Manoj Bajpayee's latest film, 'The Fable,' has been selected as the sole Indian entry in the competitive Encounters segment at the upcoming 74th Berlin International Film Festival. The festival is set to take place from February 15 to 24.

The Fable at 74th Berlin International Film Festival

A collaborative effort between the United States and India, "The Fable" boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Deepak Dobriyal, Priyanka Bose, Tillotama Shome, Hiral Sidhu, and child actor Awan Pookot. Raam Reddy, acclaimed for his debut film "Thithi," directs the project, which will premiere alongside 14 other international titles in the Encounters Competition.

This marks a significant moment for Indian cinema, as the last entry in the Encounters Competition was "The Shepherdess and The Seven Songs" by Pushpendra Singh in 2020. Additionally, the last Indian film featured in the Main Competition category was Buddhadeb Dasgupta's "Shelter of the Wings" in 1994.

Raam Reddy, the film's writer and director, expressed his deep connection to "The Fable," calling it more than just a film but "an unadulterated piece of my soul." He feels fortunate to collaborate with the brilliance of Manoj Bajpayee and the outstanding cast. Reddy is excited about premiering the film in the competitive section of Berlinale and is grateful for the global support for the project, emphasizing the opportunity to tell the story exactly as envisioned.

"The Fable" is produced by veteran producer Sunmim Park and features a stellar cast, including Deepak Dobriyal, Priyanka Bose, Tillotama Shome, debutant Hiral Sidhu, and child actor Awan Pookot.
