In a recent statement, Cowan expressed her sorrow, saying, "My wonderful mother passed away peacefully..." She also mentioned that Rush should have chosen to depart on Easter, as it was one of her favourite holidays, adding that Easter will now hold a deeper significance for her and the family.

Barbara Rush had a remarkable career in Hollywood, earning accolades for her movie and television performances. She received a Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer for her role in "It Came From Outer Space" and went on to star in numerous productions, including the acclaimed 1956 drama "Bigger Than Life" alongside James Mason.

One of her notable roles was as socialite Margaret Freemantle in the World War II drama "The Young Lions" in 1956, where she portrayed the love interest of American soldier Michael Whiteacre, played by Dean Martin. She also starred opposite Paul Newman in the 1959 legal drama "The Young Philadelphians" and reunited with Newman in the 1967 Western film "Hombre."
